Social Context gathers and shares the work and thoughts of artists, critical thinkers and socially engaged actors, who work with the social context they live in and who challenge today's sociopolitical state of things.
Working as an online and organisational platform, we gather and share the work and thoughts of artists, critical thinkers and socially engaged actors, who work with the social context they live in and who challenge today's sociopolitical state of things.
There is a need for rethinking and insisting on social change and social integration in and across local European settings - as well as beyond. We need to question if this is pursued in large scale political affairs and in smaller scale involvement in practices and projects with a social agenda, and how genuine social interests can be given a voice today.Social Context calls for a self-reflexive and progressive take on social change. We intend to promote the art of contemplating and dealing with the actuality through art and critical thinking, by engaging in the context(s) of given phenomena and situations - the geographic, political or socio-economic contexts.
We organise, produce and publish projects, initiatives and contributions in collaboration with working artist, critical thinkers and social actors.
Our activities include:
- producing video interviews
- video and photo documentation
- articles and book publications
- conferences and seminars
- other initiatives
New material is continually published at the Social context Channel at this site.
